In this episode, you're going to learn the three growth strategies that you really need to learn and know about indirect primary care practices and beyond. Welcome back to another episode where I help younger physicians decrease stress and increase income by transitioning from corporate to independent practices, even without any business experience. So as we continue this series on direct primary care, in episode 134, we defined what it is and 136,
We discussed the marketing of DPC practices or DORC primary care practices. And today in episode 139 of the independent physician blueprint, you're going to learn how to grow your independent practice, particularly a DPC practice, as I've done a lot of research on that so far. So we're going to learn foundational systems that you need to track your growth, the formula for success for growth, and how partnerships could help accelerate your growth. So foundational systems for growth.
What is needed? Well, in any type of growth scenario in any business, you really need to have the systems in place that can allow you to track the growth. So one of those systems is a website, of course, and a way to track phone calls and phone systems and being able to analyze reports. So one of the crucial things that you have to have in growing any practice or any
any business is to have good Google or website analytics. So Google analytics allows you to track how many patients or how many people have visited your website, your ranking, whether or not your search, your company is coming up in search engines. So in order for that to happen, you have to have the insights needed to run and grow your practice. So that's number one. If you don't have a website administrator, if you don't have someone that
you can trust or that knows what they're doing, then hire a consultant. Or sometimes you can actually hire labor that is not as expensive in other countries. We've used Upwork in our practices as well as, what's the name of that other company? There's Upwork and I'll think about it after, at the end of this episode, but I'll definitely share that in the show notes. But there are other third party,
Coach JPMD (02:25.196)
companies that can tie you or connect you with website developers and people who know search engine optimization. There was a guest on previous episode that talked about marketing that
gave some insight on website tracking and so I invite you to listen to that previous episode. So, you know, that's fundamental. So you can't grow your practice and understand where growth is coming from unless you have a good way of analyzing that. Number two, focused into, before I get into the actual formula,
There's something that I learned after taking a course at Dave Ramsey, the Ramsey Solutions many years ago, a financial course that helped me get out of debt and helped me understand what successful businesses did to become successful. So these formula that I learned from that course was this. Focused intensity over time multiplied by this one thing.
equal success. And what is that one thing? Multiply it by God. And I to say that that has been a guiding light for the things that I've been doing over the past couple of years. And it's about focusing your intensity. It's about making sure that all your activities is related to the thing that you want to grow. So whether it be a
new business venture, learn everything about that business venture. Whether it be an ophthalmology practice, an optometry practice, or a direct primary care practice. Read books, listen to podcasts, ask other DPC providers in your space. Learn as much as you can. Focus your intensity on that activity. Don't get distracted when you start to make money, when you start to get
Coach JPMD (04:28.782)
clients when you start to become successful because once you leave that focus Then that's where distractions can come and that's where your success can you can fail? So focus intensity so And it doesn't happen success doesn't happen overnight. All right, so you have to focus that intensity Over a long period of time and it may take a year may take two years. Sometimes it may take three years for
growth to occur. But while you're growing, while you're grinding in that business, while you're trying to get patients or while you're trying to grow the business, stay focused on what you're doing and don't distract yourself. And then the last part of that is God.
Stay in prayer. seek wise counsel, meditate, do things that are pleasing to him. And one of our, you know episodes, we talked about how we can live better in this world by loving him and then loving others. So I invite you, if you don't have that relationship and you want to succeed in business, I think that is a formula. This is the formula for success.
And I say try it. And number three, the third thing I think that is important in growing your direct primary care practice is partnerships. Partners, partnering with like-minded specialists, partnering with like-minded organizations is one of the key things in growing rapidly. So you may think that you can do everything on your own, but
A lot of times it's not easy to do that. And so it may take partnering with another direct primary care practice. Maybe you're a male physician and you have patients that want to see a female provider. Well, maybe partner with a female direct primary care provider in the area. Maybe there can be some cross coverage that you can do or you can engage in. And if a patient...
Coach JPMD (06:39.454)
would rather see a female physician or a female practitioner or provider, refer them. That will help you grow your practice, believe it or not, because guess what? When you do that, and if that provider sees that you're doing that, and there's a provider that may want to see a male physician, and that's a female DPC provider, then they may refer patients back to you. So that's a great way to grow your practice exponentially. The other way is by
partnering with employers. So there are plenty of employers out there that want to provide a benefit to their employees, but can't afford health insurance in the marketplace.
So one of the ways that you can help is by providing a lower cost benefit to those employers and those employer groups can, if they've got 50 employees and half of them want, they want to provide services to their employees in this particular area, in the area that you serve as a direct primary care physician. That's a great way to gain 25 patients, 30 patients at one time. If you can provide benefits that
that they could not afford through a health care marketplace or health insurance marketplace. So those are the three things that I think can help you accelerate your growth in the direct primary care practice. And I think in business in general. that's, you know, understanding first and foremost, the foundational systems need to be in place to track your growth. The second is, you know, abiding by the formula, the formula that works.
And it's focus intensity over time, multiplied by God equals success. And number three, partnering, partnering with other DPC providers, other specialists in the area, other cardiologists that understand that business model. And partnering with employers, employer groups that can help accelerate your growth by sending tons of patients to your practice. So

And the next couple of episodes, hopefully in next week, I'm going to try to have a radio personality, help us understand how we can use the radio to be able to grow your practice and accelerate your growth. But we'll see if that happens. Keep you posted. In the meantime, don't forget to subscribe, follow, share this podcast with your
fellow colleagues looking to understand the DPC world of medicine. And also remember that in the next couple of weeks, we're to be releasing a special video episode on Haitian American physicians and professionals in the US that are doing some marvelous things. And all of them have been on the podcast, except for one.
So I hope to release that video episode, a special video episode in a couple of weeks, and we'll be teasing some of that and we'll see you next week. Thank you so much for listening to the podcast.
